Colonel Rajeev Mannali, Managing Director and CEO of SUT Pattom Super Speciality Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram, recently visited IIT Kharagpur as part of an effort to explore new opportunities for collaboration in HealthTech.
The quest for greater reach and bandwidth remains a central theme in this journey. For healthcare institutions, expanding reach is not only about serving more people, but also about connecting with the right knowledge, technology, expertise and institutions to improve the way healthcare is delivered.
On 17 August, Colonel Rajeev Mannali visited the IIT Kharagpur Outreach Centre in Kolkata, where he attended various deliberations and had the opportunity to listen to discussions involving members of the institute’s wider community.
On 18 August, he was at the IIT Kharagpur campus as the institute celebrated its Platinum Jubilee. He was invited by the IIT Kharagpur Alumni Association to explore possibilities for collaboration in the field of HealthTech.
The visit brought together an interesting mix of perspectives.
Colonel Rajeev Mannali had the opportunity to interact with accomplished alumni and professionals of Indian origin who have built their careers across different parts of the world. Many of the discussions centred on ways to contribute to the growth of their alma mater and, beyond that, to the larger interests of the nation.
For Colonel Rajeev Mannali, who comes with a background in the Armed Forces and is now leading a healthcare institution, the interaction offered valuable perspectives on how technology and healthcare can work together. The possibilities range from sharing knowledge and expertise to exploring practical solutions that can address emerging healthcare needs. The experience also reinforced the importance of building wider networks.
Healthcare today cannot operate in isolation. Meaningful progress requires interaction between hospitals, academic institutions, technology experts, researchers and professionals from diverse fields.
The two days in Kolkata and Kharagpur were therefore more than a visit to an institution celebrating an important milestone. They provided an opportunity to listen, exchange ideas and explore new pathways.
The larger objective remains clear: to expand reach, build greater bandwidth and create meaningful collaborations that can bring together healthcare, technology and knowledge for a larger purpose.
